Baseball Game Preview: Gulfport Admirals vs. Germantown Mavericks

The Gulfport Admirals will face off against the Germantown Mavericks at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Gulfport came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 9-1 to Archbishop Rummel. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Admirals have suffered since April 3, 2024.

Gulfport saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brodie Hignight, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, Germantown got themselves on the board against Newton County on Thursday, but Newton County never followed suit. They blew past the Cougars 8-0. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Brooks Hardy, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was John Riley North, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

Germantown's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Gulfport, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Gulfport might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Germantown in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Gulfport avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
