Basketball Game Preview: The City School Lions vs. Pine Forge Academy Falcons

The City School is on a six-game streak of home losses, Pine Forge Academy a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Sunday. The City School Lions will welcome the Pine Forge Academy Falcons at 2:00 p.m. Both are at an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2016, but likely not for long.

The City School is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Foundation Collegiate Academy on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The City School came up short against Foundation Collegiate Academy, falling 69-44.

Meanwhile, Pine Forge Academy fought the good fight in their overtime contest against The City School on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 41-40 to the Lions.

The City School will need focus on slowing down Jadon Lewis, one of several Pine Forge Academy players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards. Misael Butler was another key player, putting up eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Pine Forge Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Pine Forge Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for The City School, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.

The City School won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played on Tuesday, slipping by Pine Forge Academy 41-40. Does The City School have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pine Forge Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
