It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lafayette ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Pontotoc Warriors. The win continues a trend for the Commodores in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won eight in a row.

The team relied heavily on Javin Mitchell, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor John, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI.

Lafayette's record now sits at 16-8. As for Pontotoc, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-11-1.

Lafayette will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
