Basketball Recap: Winn Takes a Loss

Winn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They had to suffer through a 82-53 loss at the hands of the Southwest Dragons. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1335th, while the Dragons are ranked 342nd).

Winn lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Juan Cruz-Muhlenbruch, who posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Francisco Villarreal, who scored nine points and eight rebounds.

Winn's defeat dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Southwest, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

When Winn and Southwest next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Winn will try to stop Jay's four-game winning streak when the meet at 1:30 p.m. on December 31st. Similarly, Southwest will try to stop Southwest Legacy's three-game winning streak when the meet at 12:00 p.m. on December 31st.
