Baseball Recap: Mead Mavericks vs. Centaurus Warriors
Mead couldn't beat Centaurus on Thursday even though they stacked seven runs on them in the third inning. The Mavericks fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 13-12. The Mavericks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
Mead got a good showing from Kaleb Walter, who struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Aiden Lemmon and Keenein Nix stepped up to the plate in a big way. Lemmon went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Nix went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Beckham Ray, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Mead has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Centaurus, they pushed their record up to 8-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
