Softball Recap: Brighton Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Brighton extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 11-6. They blew past the Millington Central Trojans 14-4. Considering the Cardinals have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaitlyn Chapman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Chapman was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2025.

In other batting news, Brighton got a massive performance out of Braeley Lopez, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. That's the most runs Lopez has posted since back in April of 2025. Emma Smith also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

As for Millington Central, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-4. The game snapped a strange streak: the last three times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

On Millington Central's side, Jade Fowler was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Fowler has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayley Stevens, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Brighton will take on Bartlett at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.27 runs per game on average), something the Cardinals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Millington Central, they will challenge Arlington at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
