Softball Preview: The Dalles Riverhawks vs. Henley Hornets

The Dalles is on a nine-game streak of home wins, while Henley is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Dalles Riverhawks will take on the Henley Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, The Dalles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Crook County.

Despina Seufalemua was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Seufalemua was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and a double.

In other batting news, Ava Graves was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with a home run, a stolen base, and two RBI. Graves is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stolen at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Meanwhile, Henley put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Cascade Christian as Henley made off with a 10-3 win.

Annie Campos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, Layliana Segura was incredible, going 2-for-4 with a home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Suzy Nichols, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

The Dalles' victory bumped their record up to 19-1. As for Henley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3-1 record this season.
