Softball Game Preview: Union Catholic Vikings vs. New Providence Pioneers

Union Catholic has gone 7-1 against New Providence recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Vikings will be playing at home against the Pioneers at 4:00 p.m. Union Catholic has given up an average of 9.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Union Catholic fell victim to Summit and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 13-0 to the Hilltoppers. The Vikings have struggled against the Hilltoppers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, New Providence had just enough and edged out Chatham 9-8 on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Pioneers in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won three in a row.

Haley Kessler was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season. Emma Peldunas was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

New Providence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Union Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for New Providence, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
