The Glenwood Titans will square off against the Monticello Sages at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Glenwood 2.4, Monticello 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Glenwood easily dispatched St. Anthony on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Titans fell just short of Pontiac by a score of 3-1 on Friday. The matchup marked the Titans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Irie Lohrenz was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Glenwood saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Bobb, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Monticello posted their closest win since May 8, 2024 on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Illinois Valley Central 6-5.
The team relied heavily on Isabella Beery, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ali Weidner, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Monticello pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Glenwood, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 9-1.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Glenwood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. However, it's not like Monticello struggles in that department as they've averaged .403. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Glenwood came out on top in a nail-biter against Monticello in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Sages turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
