Baseball Recap: Seminary Takes Down Mooreville in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Seminary had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mooreville Troopers, sneaking past 2-1. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 6-5 victory the Troopers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2017.

Dan Sinclair made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run.

Sinclair wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Stanley Peters, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Seminary hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.

Seminary has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 32-8-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Mooreville, their loss dropped their record down to 29-10.

Seminary will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Troopers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
