Basketball Recap: Arlington Victorious

After losing to Lamar the last time they met, Arlington decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Arlington Colts sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-61 victory over the Lamar Vikings on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Colts as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Lamar lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ke'Dren Washington, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Washington a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dearmondrae Batie, who posted 12 points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Arlington's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-18. As for Lamar, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-22 record this season.

Arlington and Lamar could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Arlington will take on Grand Prairie at 7:30 p.m. on Friday down 352 places (502 vs. 150). Arlington is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Meanwhile, Lamar (ranked 596th) will meet Bowie (ranked 160th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
