Basketball Game Preview: Coweta Tigers vs. McAlester Buffaloes

The Coweta Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the McAlester Buffaloes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Coweta is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since January 26, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Will Rogers College by a score of 52-49. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 295th, while the Ropers are ranked 47th).

Meanwhile, McAlester was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against Memorial, falling 84-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Buffaloes have suffered since February 22, 2024.

McAlester now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Coweta, they dropped their record down to 3-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Coweta lost to McAlester on the road by a decisive 65-46 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Coweta avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
