            Whiteland came out on top against Shelbyville  on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Warriors were the clear victors by  a  7-1 margin over the Golden Bears. The  win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Golden Bears: they've now won three in a row.

 Peyton Dickens was a  major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he  kept things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most  strikeouts  he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-4 with one  home run and three  RBI.
 In other pitching news,  Blake Lyle looked comfortable as he  tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Whiteland is 3-1 when  Lyle allows two or  fewer  earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise.
 Back at the plate,  Clayton Ratliff was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one  home run and two  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Peyton Wingfield, who  went a perfect 4-for-4 with one  run and one  RBI.
 Whiteland was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shelbyville only posted a  batting average of  .000.
Whiteland now  has a winning record of 6-5. As for Shelbyville, they have  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record  this season.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whiteland will take on Martinsville at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Warriors are facing the Artesians at the right time seeing as the Artesians are stuck on  an  eight-game losing streak. As for Shelbyville, they will square off against Lawrence Central at 10:00  a.m.  on Saturday.
