Preview: Coolidge Yellowjackets vs. Avalon Eagles

Coolidge is 7-1 against Avalon since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Coolidge Yellowjackets will head out on the road to challenge the Avalon Eagles at 6:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Coolidge has struggled recently with nine defeats in a row, while Avalon will arrive with three straight wins.

Last Friday, Coolidge came up short against Oakwood and fell 48-38.

In what's become a running theme this season, Avalon gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They breezed by Penelope at home to the tune of 48-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Avalon has posted yet this season.

Avalon found their leader in underclassman Brooklyn De La Garza, who scored 25 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which De La Garza has scored at least a third of Avalon's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Zaidle, who scored 11 points.

Coolidge's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Avalon, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Coolidge came up short against Avalon in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 41-31. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of De La Garza, who scored 25 points. Now that Coolidge knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
