Softball Recap: Dorsey Dons vs. Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears
Dorsey had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-8 to make it five. They came up short against the Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears, falling 20-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Dons haven't been shut out since back in April.
As for Port of Los Angeles, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games.
For Port of Los Angeles' part, Alyssa Setka and Nevaeh Randall made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Setka struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Randall pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Setka went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Randall went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, eight RBI, and two runs. Those eight RBI gave Randall a new career-high.
In other batting news, Briana Aleman was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Cordova, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
