J.P. Rodio was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dylan Guerrette, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI. Another player making a difference was J.D. Williams, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Northern Durham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, while Riverside-Durham put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for East Chapel Hill. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Wildcats. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.
Riverside-Durham got a massive performance out of Lucas Setji, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse May, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Northern Durham's record is now 9-10. As for Riverside-Durham, their record now sits at 14-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Northern Durham has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Riverside-Durham struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
