Preview: Providence Academy Lions vs. Buffalo Bison

The Providence Academy Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Buffalo Bison at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Providence Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 matches -- so hopefully Buffalo likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Providence Academy faced Minnehaha Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Providence Academy came out on top against Minnehaha Academy by a score of 98-90. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Providence Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maddyn Greenway led the charge by dropping a triple-double on 21 points, 17 rebounds, and 13 assists. Greenway is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ari Peterson, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, Buffalo's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their tenth straight loss. They were dealt a 74-17 loss at the hands of Minnetonka. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Buffalo has scored all season.

Providence Academy pushed their record up to 14-2 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32 points. As for Buffalo, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.
