Softball Game Preview: Charlottesville Black Knights vs. Albemarle Patriots

Charlottesville hasn't had much luck against Albemarle recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Black Knights will face off against the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. Charlottesville has given up an average of 17.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

The home team had won the previous two meetings between Charlottesville and Staunton, and Staunton kept the tradition alive. The Black Knights might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 22-12 to the Storm, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Kylee Gentry was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Londyn Randolph also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Albemarle was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They lost 17-0 to Monticello. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Charlottesville's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Albemarle, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Charlottesville might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Albemarle in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Black Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
