Basketball Recap: Bella Davis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Gregory-Portland over Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial

The Gregory-Portland Wildcats might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 37-26 to the Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial Eagles, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gregory-Portland lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Bella Davis, who posted 14 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Shifa Ali, who earned four points and five rebounds.

Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zoe Perry led the charge by putting up 15 points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Regan Buckner, who had seven points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Gregory-Portland's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-13.

Gregory-Portland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 59-44 win against Miller on the 13th.
