Softball Game Preview: Belfast Lions vs. Waterville Panthers

The Belfast Lions will head out on the road to take on the Waterville Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

On Thursday, Belfast didn't have quite enough to beat Camden Hills and fell 2-1. The game marked the Lions' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, Waterville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Spruce Mountain, falling 17-1. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly 16 runs.

Waterville's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Belfast, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Everything went Belfast's way against Waterville when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Belfast made off with a 20-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
