Football Recap: Marek Mascho Leads Wellsboro's Defense on Saturday + How To Watch

Wellsboro made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Muncy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Hornets fell just short of the Indians by a score of 23-20 on Saturday. The Hornets lost against the Indians in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 49-0 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Wellsboro lost, don't look at Griffin Morral. Despite the final result, he rushed for 51 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 67 yards and one touchdown.

Wellsboro didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Marek Mascho.

A big part of Muncy's win came down to the chemistry between Andrew Walters and his top target Nathan Rogers. Walters rushed for 103 yards and one score while Rogers picked up 67 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Rogers didn't just play on offense: he also made three total tackles and defended two passes.

Wellsboro's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Muncy, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

This will be the Hornets' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. Meanwhile, Muncy is set to challenge their familiar foe Cowanesque Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will also give Muncy their first taste of in-conference action this season.
