Basketball Recap: Shepherd Comes Up Short

Shepherd played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns 79-41. The Pirates have struggled against the Longhorns recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Shepherd saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brayden White dropped a double-double on 36 points and 20 boards. White's evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Chance Allday also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steals of the season.

Shepherd's defeat dropped their record down to 16-15. As for Hamshire-Fannett, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-13 record this season.

Shepherd will head out to face off against Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shepherd is facing Liberty at the right time seeing as Liberty is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Hamshire-Fannett, they will host Tarkington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hamshire-Fannett has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
