Baseball Recap: United Continues Home Dominance on Monday

After losing to Cambria Heights the last time they met, United decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Lions came out on top against the Highlanders by a score of 9-5 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.

Brendan James spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, United let Shaydon Oleksa and James Kordish run wild. Oleksa went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Kordish went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Kordish has become a key player for United: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-9 otherwise. Ryan Felix was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

United pushed their record up to 9-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7 runs. As for Cambria Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.

United has already played their next game, an 8-5 win against Conemaugh Township on the 12th. Cambria Heights does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
