Football Recap: Holmes Extends Winning Streak to Seven

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Holmes had no problem doing just that on Friday. They claimed a resounding 55-16 victory over the Perquimans Pirates. The result was nothing new for the Aces, who have now won six matchups by 26 points or more so far this season.

Holmes' defense made their presence known, laying out Benjamin Brown six times. Amari Bond was especially locked on to Perquimans' QB and sacked him twice. Bond has become a key player for Holmes: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two sacks, but 2-3 otherwise.

The win (which was Holmes' seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-4. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.4 points over those games. As for Perquimans, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Coming up, Holmes is taking a road trip to square off against North Duplin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels' defense has only allowed 10.8 points per game this season, so the Aces' offense will have their work cut out for them. Perquimans does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
