Baseball Recap: Pawhuska Triumphs

Pawhuska won the last time they faced Newkirk and things went their way on Monday too. The Huskies walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Tigers.

Logan Cass was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jadon Spicer, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He has become a key player for Pawhuska: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6 otherwise.

Pawhuska's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Newkirk, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7-1.

Coming up, Pawhuska will be playing at home against Barnsdall at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Newkirk, they are taking a road trip to square off against Frontier at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.75 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
