Basketball Recap: Shawnee Comes Up Short

Shawnee and Bishop Kelley squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Shawnee had to settle for second. They took a 39-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bishop Kelley Comets. The Wolves were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Comets earlier this season, when they won 54-33.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bishop Kelley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anne Blankenship, who posted eight points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Grisaffe, who put up 12 points and eight rebounds.

Shawnee's loss dropped their record down to 18-8. As for Bishop Kelley, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season.

Shawnee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bishop Kelley, they have already played their next matchup, a 49-38 defeat against Carl Albert on the 10th.
