Basketball Recap: St. Clairsville Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for St. Clairsville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They managed a 62-56 victory over the Pleasant Spartans on Saturday. Given the Red Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Spartans are ranked 360th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pleasant lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Evan Sickmiller, who posted 12 points and six rebounds. Alec Columber was another key player, going 7 of 13 on his way to 17 points.

St. Clairsville pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Pleasant, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

St. Clairsville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-52 victory against Cambridge on the 23rd. As for Pleasant, they will head out to square off against Galion at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
