Baseball Recap: Cave Spring Takes a Loss

Cave Spring lost to Blacksburg back in April and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Knights fell just short of the Bruins by a score of 10-9.

Gavin Young and Tyler Harrison stepped up to the plate in a big way. Young went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Harrison went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Tibey, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Cave Spring's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-9. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Blacksburg, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cave Spring will welcome Magna Vista at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Blacksburg, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Hidden Valley at 5:00 p.m. The Bruins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
