Football Game Preview: Cedar Reds vs. Juab Wasps

The Cedar Reds will take on the Juab Wasps at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Cedar sitting on eight straight victories and Juab on four.

If Juab heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Cedar took over last week. Everything went the Reds' way against Canyon View on Friday as they made off with a 35-14 win. The Reds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Cedar's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Everett Kelling led the charge by throwing for 89 yards and two TDs, while also rushing for 65 yards. Kelling showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 50 yards. Cedar also got a significant boost from Braxton Demille, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 89 yards.

Cedar didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Maddux Harris and Junior Togiai-Bloomfield. Togiai-Bloomfield also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 13. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Juab didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Richfield on Friday, but they still walked away with a 35-31 victory.

Cedar's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Juab, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Cedar has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 232.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Juab struggles in that department as they've been averaging 164 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Cedar was able to grind out a solid win over Juab in their previous meeting back in August of 2023, winning 21-10. Will the Reds repeat their success, or do the Wasps have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
