Basketball Game Preview: Lakeland Cavaliers vs. Heritage Hurricanes

The Lakeland Cavaliers will venture away from home to take on the Heritage Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Lakeland has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 31.

Last Tuesday, Lakeland had to suffer through a 69-14 loss at the hands of Deep Creek. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Hornets are ranked 17th).

Alainah Overton was Lakeland's leading scorer, having posted ten points. Miracle Stephens held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Heritage didn't have too much trouble with Kecoughtan on Tuesday as they won 48-30. The victory continues a trend for the Hurricanes in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.

Lakeland's defeat dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Heritage, their win bumped their record up to 10-13.

Lakeland suffered a grim 54-30 defeat to Heritage in their previous meeting back in January of 2015. Can Lakeland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
