Baseball Game Preview: Refugio Bobcats vs. Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats

Refugio are taking a road trip to face off against Skidmore-Tynan at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Skidmore-Tynan took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Refugio, who comes in off a win.

It was a proper cat-fight when Refugio faced off against Yorktown on Friday. The Bobcats put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 10-0 victory. Considering the Bobcats have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to T-Mike Rosas's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Refugio is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ray Lewis, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for Refugio: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-8-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Mattew Perez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

Refugio was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Yorktown only posted a batting average of .056.

Meanwhile, Skidmore-Tynan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 15-2 to Woodsboro.

Refugio now has a winning record of 9-8-1. As for Skidmore-Tynan, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Refugio took their win against Skidmore-Tynan in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 16-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Refugio since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
