Football Recap: Keyasia Gaines Leads Hernando's Defense on Wednesday

After losing to Lecanto the last time they met, Hernando decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Hernando Leopards took down the Lecanto Panthers 20-6 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Leopards.

Carlie Grant had an outrageously good game as she threw for 89 yards and two touchdowns, and also caught one touchdown.

Hernando didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Keyasia Gaines and Kenderlyn Hart were the leaders of the group effort as each produced two apiece.

Hernando's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Lecanto, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hernando will challenge Weeki Wachee at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Weeki Wachee's defense has only allowed 11.8 points per game this season, so Hernando's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Lecanto, they will take on Springstead at 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Springstead will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Lecanto surely won't give up without a fight.
