Football Recap: Clyde Fliers vs. Port Clinton Redskins
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clyde). They took their matchup at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 56-21 victory over the Port Clinton Redskins. The result was nothing new for the Fliers, who have now won four contests by 24 points or more so far this season.
Brennan Wilson had an outrageously good game as he threw for 197 yards and two touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2023. Another player making a difference was Kam Shortridge, who picked up 119 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Clyde's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. Shortridge picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown.
Clyde's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Port Clinton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.
Clyde will face off against Perkins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Perkins: 4.4, Clyde: 15.2) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Port Clinton, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Vermilion at 7:00 p.m. on October 4th.
