Softball Recap: Oley Valley Lynx vs. Muhlenberg Muhls
Oley Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They suffered a rough 17-4 defeat at the hands of the Muhlenberg Muhls. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Oley Valley of the 8-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.
Dana Messner was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Garcia, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Even though they lost, Oley Valley was hitting in the alleys and finished the game with three doubles. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Muhlenberg didn't hit any.
On Muhlenberg's side, Madison Wentzel made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Wentzel was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 1-for-5.
In other batting news, Muhlenberg got a massive performance out of Erin Smith, who scored four runs while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Jablonski, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Oley Valley now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Muhlenberg, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Oley Valley will head out on the road to take on Brandywine Heights Area at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Oley Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Muhlenberg, they will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Daniel Boone at 4:00 p.m.
