Soccer Recap: Vienna/Goreville Takes a Loss

Vienna/Goreville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mt. Vernon Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Mt. Vernon this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 last Monday.

Vienna/Goreville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Mt. Vernon, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-7.

Coming up, Vienna/Goreville will host DuQuoin at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Vienna/Goreville are facing DuQuoin at the right time seeing as DuQuoin are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Mt. Vernon, they will square off against Salem at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Salem will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Mt. Vernon surely won't give up without a fight.
