Softball Game Preview: Kutztown Cougars vs. Wilson Warriors

The Kutztown Cougars will face off against the Wilson Warriors at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Kutztown gave up the first runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Twin Valley by a score of 7-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Kourtney Dietrich was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Felicia Oldt, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Wilson and Deshler, and Wilson kept the tradition alive. Wilson narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Deshler 5-3. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Sadie Grace Bonds made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Poarch, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Bugg Watkins was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Wilson's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 8-6. As for Kutztown, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
