Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Pelham's Third in Last Four Outings

It was a proper cat-fight when Pelham challenged Spain Park on Tuesday. The Panthers came out on top against the Jaguars by a score of 5-1. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Jaguars back in March, they had to take a 11-1 loss.

Jordan Young made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

Young wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Howard, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Pelham has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-14 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Spain Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-17 record this season.

Pelham will be playing at home against West Blocton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Spain Park, they will venture away from home to challenge Helena at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games the Huskies have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
