Basketball Recap: Valley Comes Up Short

Valley lost against West Campus back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Valley Vikings fell 61-49 to the West Campus Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1249th, while the Warriors are ranked 529th).

Zach Villanueva was his usual excellent self, going 9 for 16 on his way to 24 points along with six rebounds and six steals for West Campus. The game was Villanueva's fifth in a row with at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiefer Wilbur, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards.

Valley's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-20. As for West Campus, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 15-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley will welcome Burbank at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Burbank is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.4 points per game this season. As for West Campus, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Armijo at 7:00 p.m.
