Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Sauk Rapids-Rice

While Sauk Rapids-Rice didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Fergus Falls Otters on Tuesday. The Storm might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 11 runs or more this season.

Riley Turck and Ava Knutson were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Turck pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Knutson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, Turck went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI, while Knutson went 2-for-3 with one run.

In other batting news, Brooklyn Diskerud was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Ollie Pantzke was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Sauk Rapids-Rice was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .552. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory (which was Sauk Rapids-Rice's third in a row) raised their record to 6-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Fergus Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Coming up, Sauk Rapids-Rice will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Detroit Lakes at 4:00 p.m. The Storm are facing the Lakers at the right time seeing as the Lakers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Fergus Falls, they will head out on the road to take on Rocori at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
