Football Game Preview: Caldwell Hornets vs. Lexington Eagles

The Caldwell Hornets will square off against the Lexington Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Caldwell put up the most points they have all season last Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 49-34 win over Smithville.

Coy Becka had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 185 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Lexington put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 37-0 victory over Hearne. Given Lexington's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Hearne is ranked 782nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Caldwell better keep an eye on Kase Evans. He was instrumental in Lexington's win, throwing for 130 yards and three TDs, while also punching in one score on the ground. Weston Bayer was Evans' top target, picking up 31 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

The win got Caldwell back to even at 2-2. As for Lexington, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.

Caldwell took a serious blow against Lexington in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 52-7. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Hornets were down 29-0.
