Preview: Miller Rustlers vs. Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Braves
Miller has been on the road for two straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Braves at 6:45 p.m. Miller will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Dakota Rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Cheyenne-Eagle Butte is ranked 34th).
Last Thursday, Miller ended up a good deal behind Mt. Vernon/Plankinton and lost 54-38. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Miller in their matchups with Mt. Vernon/Plankinton: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte was able to grind out a solid victory over Dupree on Saturday, taking the game 61-48.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cheyenne-Eagle Butte to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dayson Kennedy, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Elk nation, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Miller's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Cheyenne-Eagle Butte, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Everything went Miller's way against Cheyenne-Eagle Butte in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as Miller made off with a 58-34 win. Does Miller have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cheyenne-Eagle Butte turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
