Volleyball Recap: Prentice Gets the Win

Prentice won the last time they faced Mellen and things went their way on Saturday too. The Buccaneers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Granite Diggers 2-1.

Prentice had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-20, 15-12.

Prentice found their leader in sophomore Piper Heikkinen, who had 19 digs and one assist. Those 19 digs set a new season-high mark for Heikkinen.

Prentice's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Mellen, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Prentice wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Butternut on the 6th. As for Mellen, they will head out on the road to face off against Washburn at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Granite Diggers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
