Volleyball Recap: Cardinal Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Cardinal entered their tilt with Lakeside on Saturday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Dragons. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Huskies also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Cardinal had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-13, 25-17, 25-14.

Cardinal was led to victory by Adelyn Grant and Aliyssa Detweiler. Grant had 24 digs and two aces, while Detweiler had six digs and four aces. The dominant performance also gave Detweiler a new career-high in assists (three).

They weren't the only good server: Cardinal was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 38 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Cardinal's win bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Lakeside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Cardinal wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Maplewood on the 22nd. As for Lakeside, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Kirtland on the 22nd.
