It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Derby ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Ansonia Chargers 14-13. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Red Raiders as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Emma DeSanty, who went 4-for-6 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Kailyn Kross also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Derby always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Derby's win bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Ansonia, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Derby will have a chance to go back-to-back against Ansonia: the pair will be back at it again later today.
