Basketball Recap: Wartburg Central Takes a Loss

Wartburg Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 55-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Midway Green Wave. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-29 back in December of 2024.

Leading Midway to victory were Kyleigh Cawood and Tatum Collier. Cawood went 5 for 11 on her way to 27 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Collier went 6 of 14 en route to 15 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Those 15 points gave Collier a new career-high.

Wartburg Central's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Midway, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8.

Wartburg Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 41-23 victory against Rockwood on the 4th. As for Midway, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Scott at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
