Volleyball Recap: Jackson Ironman/Ironladies vs. Chesapeake Panthers
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against South Webster, Jackson was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Chesapeake Panthers 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Ironman/Ironladies have posted since October 1, 2024.
Jackson was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-20, 24-26, 25-19, 15-9.
Emma Carroll paced Jackson's offense, picking up 22 kills. Carroll got some help from Daycee Howard and her 37 assists. Carroll was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.
Despite the loss, Chesapeake still got an impressive performance from Bre Scarberry, who had 33 digs and two assists. Scarberry is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 17 or more in each of the last three games she's played.
Jackson's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Chesapeake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jackson will face off against Piketon at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Chesapeake, they will take on Green at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
