Softball Recap: Santa Clara Takes a Loss

If Santa Clara was feeling good fresh off their 23-13 takedown of Lynbrook on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bruins came up short against the Dublin Gaels on Monday, falling 20-4.

Santa Clara saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jasmine (Jazzy) Ramirez, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Chloe Boyes was another, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs.

Santa Clara now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Dublin, their win ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-15.

Looking ahead, Santa Clara will venture away from home to face off against Monta Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bruins are facing the Matadors at the right time seeing as the Matadors are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Dublin, they will be playing at home against California at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Grizzlies' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Gaels' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
