Basketball Game Preview: Brookside Cardinals vs. Columbia Raiders

Brookside hasn't had much luck against Columbia recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Brookside Cardinals will be playing at home against the Columbia Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Brookside turned things around against Clearview on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-46 win over the Clippers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cardinals have posted since January 31, 2024.

Meanwhile, Columbia entered their tilt with Wellington on Saturday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They took down the Dukes 48-32.

Brookside better keep an eye on Sadie Schulke. She was instrumental in Columbia's win, putting up 13 points. Another player making a difference was Natalie Miller, who posted nine points.

Columbia has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Brookside, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.

Brookside lost to Columbia at home by a decisive 63-47 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Miller, who almost dropped a triple-double on 27 points, ten boards, and nine steals.
