Soccer Game Preview: Terry Sanford vs. Gray's Creek

The Terry Sanford Bulldogs will take on the Gray's Creek Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

On Wednesday, Terry Sanford had just enough and edged out Purnell Swett 2-1. Both teams had to tread carefully at times as the refs weren't afraid to hand out yellow cards: Sammy Tapia was handed one for Terry Sanford, while Purnell Swett got theirs courtesy of Phoenix Cummings.

David Pierre and Brenden Renteria scored both of Terry Sanford's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 22 goals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Gray's Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They never let Purnell Swett get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory last Wednesday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Gray's Creek's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Purnell Swett are ranked 373rd).

Gray's Creek's win bumped their record up to 11-2-3. As for Terry Sanford, the victory got them back to even at 8-8-4.
