Basketball Recap: Smoky Hill's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mullen, Smoky Hill was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Douglas County Huskies, sneaking past 49-47. For the Buffaloes, this counts as revenge for the 60-49 victory the Huskies walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2019.

Smoky Hill had a senior duo take command as Yamani Perez posted 17 points and Poli Fifita put up 15 points. Those 15 points gave Fifita a new career-high.

Smoky Hill moved to 5-13 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Douglas County, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Smoky Hill will face off against Grandview at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Grandview will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Smoky Hill surely won't give up without a fight. Douglas County has already played their next match (against Ponderosa), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
